It’s not every day I see Dane Maxwell dancing with grown dogs, but on this day (Feb, 19th, 2017)
The occasion was that we were visiting our new friends Nicky, and his wife Andrea! We had met them the wednesday before that at a Home concert Dane played at his buddy Austin’s house. Austin in Austin. ( That article is coming soon)
And like I said, they had dogs. Andrea told me that when she moved to Austin, she had been planning on becoming a nutritionist, that’s what she went to school for in Spain, unfortunately, her credentials did not apply to being in the United States. One day Nicky, her boyfriend asked her why not try signing up online to take care of dogs.
So she went online and made a profile on a dog care taker sight, and Nicky helped her make her profile awesome, and then she walked away and forgot about it… Until the next day when she got an offer to take care of someone’s dog for the day for $30.
Since then she has built it up to having 8 to 11 dogs a day, over nighters pay $40, and dogs that just come for the day pay $30, so that’s $6,000 to $13,000 a month depending on how many days and how many dogs she has. She said she also sometimes turns away dogs, or takes days off when she would like a break or to go on a trip. If you love dogs, you can probably do this too.
Anyway back to the story, so Dane and I arrived at their house to be greeted by a herd of wild dogs viciously trying to tear us to shreds.
Okay I’m kidding, the dogs were kenneled mostly in the living room ( there were 8 of them there ) and we were free from being viciously attacked.
Dane showed Nicky his new One Wheel, an awesome new skateboard like thing that only has One wheel, is electrically powered and really fun.
After playing on it in the driveway for a while, Nicky brought us inside and showed Dane his office. He had two computers set up for work and some cool book shelves.
“Is this where you play starcraft?” Dane asked with wide eyed enthusiasm and mischeviosity ( not a word, but I’m using it anyway: sue me)
Dane and Nicky were soon playing starcraft.
I ventured out into the living room and talked to Andrea about her dogs and how she came to get them all and what she liked to do before that.
After Dane and Nicky finished playing Starcraft, them came out into the kitchen and we all ate beef jerky and Danced with the dogs. Here is a video for your viewing pleasure.
Thanks so much for reading
It’s an honor to write for Dane’s blog and for you brilliant readers.
